Between 1-2 December 2022, Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, and Mahidol Migration Center (MMC) organized the 6th MMC Regional Conference on the topic of “”From New Normal to the Next Normal: Migration Research and Policy in the Changing World”” honored by Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D., President of Mahidol University gave opening remarks with Associate Professor Dr. Aree Jampaklay, Director of the Institute for Population and Social Research gave a report, and Emeritus Professor Dr. Aphichat Chamratrithirong gave closing remark.
On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Sureeporn Punpuing, Director of Mahidol Migration Center, together with representatives of the conference sponsors who are academic networks on the migration of the IPSR, namely 1) Kyoko Kusakabe, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Thailand; 2) Doo-Sub Kim, Hanyang University, Korea and the Asian Population Association (APA); 3) Kaoru Aoyama, Kobe University and Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Japan; 4) Edgard Rodriguez, International Development Research Center (IDRC), Asia Regional Office, India; 5) Sergey V. Ryazantsev. , IDR FCTAS RAS, Russia and FedUSC, Brazil; 6) Rosalia Sciortino Sumaryono, SEA Junction Thailand; and 7) Paul Statham, Sussex-Mahidol Migration Partnership, University of Sussex, United Kingdom honored to give a welcome speech to the delegates from Mahidol University’s University’s transnational migration network of more than one hundred and fifty people from 26 countries in different regions of the world.
The purpose of this conference is to be a forum to exchange knowledge and research on transnational migration, which impacts society, the economy and public health—presented as a guideline for developing transnational migration policies to improve the quality of life of the population and to strengthen and expand the network of migrant worker organizations. Moderated by Dr. Pattraporn Chuenglertsiri and Dr. Napaphat Satchanawakulat at Room 101, 1st floor, Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University.
